I can’t tell you how much joy this project brought me. Being able to offer a keepsake for local families during this difficult time while raising money for the Stittsville Food Bank has been something I’m incredibly proud of. Our community came together, even if it was for a short time, to help those in need.
If you’re not aware of what the Front Steps Project is, let me give you some insight. This project was introduced by a photographer in Massachusetts. I brought it to the Ottawa area, specifically Stittsville. It involved me going to clients homes and taking family photos of them on their front steps while maintaining the social distancing mandate. In return for some photos I asked each family to make a donation to the Stittsville Food Bank.
This project brought these families joy and gave them something to look forward to while being stuck at home. But also, it gave me so much joy and something to look forward to. It was absolutely incredible to be able to continue capturing the JOY that I knew was still happening within the households of our neighbours and friends.
While this project seemed short lived, it created a HUGE impact on our community. The Stittsville Food Bank was incredibly grateful for the contributions mad.
I will forever be grateful for the positivity that came from this project. Thank you, Stittsville, for being the most amazing community. I can’t wait to be out photographing your families again. In the meantime, I’m going to continue sharing the joy I was able to capture during this project.
